Housing your Cat
Cat Bed

A good bed is the only accommodation your pet cat needs. It could be
a comfortable chair, a box or a basket. A variety of manufactured cat
beds is available in your local pet stores. These beds are usually made
of fiberglass, rigid plastic, canvas or basket work. The bed
should be placed off the ground, clear of draughts and dampness. If the
bed has no legs, it is important that the base must be slightly domed to
leave air space underneath.
Keeping your pet cat comfortable all the time is your responsibility.
A washable cushion or a blanket is necessary to protect your cat from
sickness and in severe weather conditions.
Litter Tray

Although house cats are easy to train pets, it is also important to
teach them how to urinate properly. Most cats, even from the very early
age usually scratch a hole before they urinate, and then cover over the
traces. Encourage your pet cat to urinate in the litter tray,
filled with dry soil or sand. It is important to use some soil or the
cat may fail to make transition to urinate in the garden. The tray
should be kept clean and in a secluded position. Hooded litter trays are
ideal for cats which prefer their toilet arrangements to be private.
Scratching Post

Cats uses their claws to defend themselves. They often use it for
climbing and digging. Most cats sharpen their claws on a tree trunk or
other item such as furniture's and upholstery in the house. In an
attempt to prevent the damage, some owners provide a scratching post for
their cats. Any length of log will be suitable a whole range of
manufactures scratching posts is available in your local pet stores.
Cat Doors

Access to the house at all times is very important for your pet cats. If
they are unable to get into their own home they might prefer to stay in
the streets for long periods and get themselves involved in fights with
other cats. A cat door, fitted into one of the external doors of the
house is a useful aid. It provides a cat with an easy means of access to
the house. Cat doors should be fitted correctly and should be
burglar-proof.
